While working remotely in the comfort of my own home, I’ve had the time to breathe and think – there are always “positives” in our lives no matter what is going on around us (and we sure do have some deadly serious stuff going on around all of us).
It dawned on me that there are definitely some things for our potential clients to think about involving the benefits of design in a time of crisis.
If you have interviewed and reviewed and were ready to go with hiring a designer – now is the best time to get your project going.
Why?
Keep It in Perspective
Design fees are a relatively modest part of the overall project cost, so it would not be a financial burden to buildings.
The Process Takes Time
It takes four to six months of design process to get to a final design. It takes four to six months to prepare bid documents, award contracts, procure goods, and schedule the work at the site. Work can’t even start until then.
The Cost-Savings Are Huge
When things settle down, contractors will be hungry and very willing to negotiate their contracts. If we get them signed up in the next few months, the cost-savings are huge.
Just today, I received a call letting me know that an executed contract was on its way to us, and the clients are ready to start the job. It took my clients to convince me there’s a silver lining in this time of crisis.
Working and designing remotely is becoming the new norm – and life goes on! Bravo to those that understand the benefits of these “silver linings”!
My best to you and your family,
Marilyn
